John Lima, PharmDProfessor and Director, Nemours Children's Clinic
Dr. Lima received his BS degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1967, and his PharmD degree from the University of Michigan in 1977. He completed fellowship training in Clinical Pharmacokinetics at the SUNY at Buffalo. In 1979, Dr. Lima was appointed Assistant Professor of Pharmacy in the College of Pharmacy, at the Ohio State University, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1984. His research interests were focused on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of cardiovascular drugs. In 1990-91, Dr Lima completed a sabbatical in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Pennsylvania, where he studied receptor expression and regulation. In 1992, he was appointed Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Tennessee, in Memphis, TN, where he continued his study of receptor regulation and taught clinical pharmacokinetics and graduate courses in pharmacokinetics. In 1998, Dr. Lima accepted his current position. In 1999, Dr. Lima was named Principal Investigator of the American Lung Association, Asthma Clinical Research Center (ALA ACRC) for the Nemours Children's Clinic/University of Florida Consortium. In 2004 and 2009, he was re-appointed for additional cycles. Dr. Lima's research is currently focused in the area of asthma pharmacogenomics and has been continuously funded by the NIH since 2000 to study the genetics and pharmacogenetics of asthma and other chronic diseases. Currently Dr. Lima is funded by grants from the NIH, American Lung Association, the Jim and Esther King Biomedical Research Fund, Thrasher Biomedical Research Fund and Nemours Biomedical Research. He has over 125 full papers published or in press in peer-reviewed journals. |
